What are you doing this summer?

Avant-Gardening are looking for volunteers for their programme of summer activities. Whether you want to give a few hours or every waking minute we want to hear from you.

This volunteering opportunity would be most suited to people interested in the arts and the urban environment and their application in a socially engaged setting. We are looking for artists and gardeners who can give their time to support a project that explores issues of sustainability, food, gardening, creativity, community and people's responses to their own environment.

This may be the opportunity you were looking for to develop your arts practise or a way of working with like-minded people on a fun and engaging project

Interested?

If so, please tell us a bit more about yourself; what you could bring to the project and what you hope to get out of it.

Please e-mail paul@avantgardening.org

Mobile Allotment goes to Bethnal Green

Thanks to funding from Awards For All the Mobile Allotment is about to be planted ready for the summer by pupils at Oaklands School, Bethnal Green. During the summer term the pupils will be turning the mobile allotment into a sensory garden that can be explored through taste, smell and the vibrant colours of summer.

Artists, Polly Brannan, Kamala Katbamna and Lisa Cheung will be leading workshops to redesign the mobile allotment, explore the sensory properties of plants and to spread the word as to how easy it is to become an urban food grower. The young people's garden will be on show at various venues during the summer months
