Get Moving is an intiative by the Time To Change campaign that aims to challenge discrimination against people who suffer mental ill health. As part of this initiative Avant-Gardening will be at the Greenwich NHS Get Moving Get Fit festival at Greenwich Heritage Centre (click here for map) on Saturday 10 Oct 1.30pm - 4.00pm.
Research has found that physical activity can have a positive effect on mental well being and what better way to exercise than through some avant-gardening or an walk through your nearest green spaces. Autumn is a great time for walking and enjoying our natural environment and to this end Avant-Gardening will be mapping the walks that people enjoy, the peaceful spaces where they can unwind and celebrating the open and green spaces in the borough of Greenwich.
If you have a walk you want to share or a favourite space where you can get that much needed 5 minutes of peace and solitude please add it to our map.
You will need to sign in to Google Maps to edit this map. You can add photographs, map your walking route and embed videos
And why not come along to the Greenwich Heritage Centre on Saturday as an active social life is another way of boosting mental well-being. On Saturday we will be creating another of our fanzines; this time focusing on positive mental health and the benefits of gardening and re-engaging with the natural world. If you have any anecdotes or photos you would like included you can e-mail us at
