Operation Deep Freeze

Operation Deep Freeze ODF is an art and food growing project to create a mobile ice cream vendor that explores the relationship between edible plants, nutrition, flavours, tastes and aromas through the creation of inventive ice creams which community participants will devise, create and market. The project will be a collaboration between Lisa Cheung and Avant-Gardening, who, together will deliver an exciting programme that starts with food growing and ends with a cycle powered ice cream vendor from which unusual and delicious ice creams are shared alongside artists interventions, creative workshops and performances. ODF is a curious hybrid: part iconic ice cream vendor, part field research laboratory, part traditional ice cream maker. It invites participants to act as researchers, scientists, tasters, ice cream makers and eaters and encourages them to think about how the food we grow can appeal to all of our senses as well as learn more about the nutritional and health benefits of food.
For this project we are hoping to raise funding through a combination of grants and crowd funding. Our crowd funding page is hosted by Spacehive https://spacehive.com/operationdeepfreeze

Urban Growing Event at Homebaked

Please join artist Polly Brannan from Avant Gardening (http://avantgardening.org/home/) for an informal discussion about projects she has been involved with around gardening, local environments, play and public spaces. Polly will be joined by Weston Hammond, artist in residence at Anfield Primary School who will talk about the gardening project he and his students have been working on.

This event is part of a series of talks organized in collaboration with Liverpool Biennial and will form a basis for ideas and discussion around a Homebaked growing project with local residents.

There will be plenty of room for discussion and sharing of knowledge.

We will offer freshly baked Pizza. If you grow your own food, bring some vegetables for toppings!

Tuesday, July 16, 6-8pm!
