Roehampton Time Machine

Avant-Gardening is running a new project to create a short animated film with local school children. Based on The Time Machine by one-time local resident, H.G. Wells, the animation will be inspired by stories and anecdotes shared by local residents and will then be illustrated and shaped by the participating children. Watch this space for more information

Mapping Landmarks in Roehampton

e-flyer for map launch
e-flyer for map launch

During September Avant-Gardening were invited by Wandsworth Arts to talk to local residents and Roehampton's community to create a limited edition collage/fanzine style map of the area. The artists roamed the area, working with library users, staff of the Eastwood Nursery and Children's Centre, the 60+ group as well as people in and around the streets, dog walkers and shop keepers to gain insights into resident's perceptions of the area. The heart of the project was talking, sharing and brain storming ideas about what Roehampton offers, which landmarks hold special meaning and what the community would like to see happen in the future. So far the ideas have included edible wild gardens, programming events, water landscaping events, walking tours of the area, film screenings, gardening projects and projections onto buildings. These ideas were captured by Avant-Gardening for the creation of a limited edition map which is being launched on
Tuesday 9 October 4pm - 5.30pm at Cafe Joy, Danebury Avenue. SW15
Join the artists and community to discuss the project and collect your own copy of the map. All welcome!
